July 30 and 31 the Edgewater Children’s Festival returns to the Sloan’s Lake area. Sponsored by Edgewater Enterprise, a non-profit business association and the City of Edgewater, the Children’s Festival is unique in the Denver metro area in that it caters to families with children. The Festival has a strong educational focus, with participation from the major museums and other nature-based educational forums around the city. A percentage of the festival’s proceeds go to support local public schools.

Last year’s successful inaugural festival drew over 10,000 families. We were honored for our efforts with front-page coverage in the Sunday Denver Post (http://bit.ly/eA2BSb). This year with sponsorship from the City of Edgewater and enhanced marketing efforts, we expect attendance to more than double to 25,000. The Children’s Festival is also unique in that it occurs across the street from the annual Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan’s Lake. This event draws 100,000 in attendance for the weekend.

The Children’s Festival occurs in the City of Edgewater along the city’s historic main street, W. 25th Avenue. Starting at Sheridan Boulevard under the historic “Welcome to the City of Edgewater” sign, the festival will stretch for seven blocks to Gray Street. 75 vendors, two music and entertainment stages, educational exhibits from local museums and organizations, bouncy children’s play equipment and pony rides will line the closed avenue.

We still have openings for vendors. The vendor packet with an application comes in two forms, PDF (Packet) or Word (Packet). All information pertinent to vending including a festival site plan is included. You can mail or email a populated application using information in the packet.

Last year we drew people from the densely-populated, double-income, and well-educated neighborhoods of Denver’s greater Highlands area. We also drew families from surrounding Edgewater, Wheat Ridge and Lakewood communities. Many curious Dragon Boat Festival attendees took advantage of what our festival had to offer.

This is a growing opportunity you can’t afford to miss. You can rest assured your involvement in the Edgewater Children’s Festival will become a strong annual exposure for your business.

Please direct questions to Jim Taylor at (303) 929-8833 or email EWCF@loveedgewater.com.

Excellent music, drama, harvest activities, games, booths, drink and food, and more will be on tap!

It’s the end of the summer and the end of the festival season and time for celebration of Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox – a time for reflection on the season past and giving thanks for the bounty of the harvest.

The last, newest and smallest of the year’s Festivals needs your help to make the observance of the time a success. The Celtic Harvest Festival Edgewater has open shifts for volunteers who will get a t-shirt, food and drink and a chance to win prizes in the drawing at the volunteer thank-you party. In addition, there will be lots of good music by your favorite local bands, Highland and step-dancing, piping and the Flying Dog races to entertain and delight you.

Please join festival organizers September 18 and 19 in making the first year of the Festival a success.

Go to the Celtic Harvest Festival Web site and register today. Be sure to select the Volunteers link in the menu bar. You’ll not be sorry you did!

Thanks.
