Dining

There are over 20 dining establishments throughout Edgewater; keep in mind Edgewater is only .7 miles square in size! Most restaurants are located either along Sheridan Boulevard or W. 25th Avenue.

Asian fare is a very well represented food category, with Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese. Newest on the scene is Vina Pho & Grill, in the new development at the northwest corner of W. 20th Ave. and Sheridan. Vina has a wonderful eating patio facing Sloan’s Lake and downtown to the east and their food is fresh, well presented and the prices are modest. US Thai half a block west of Sheridan on W. 25th Ave. along Edgewater’s historic main street, is another wonderful dining opportunity. Once again the food is fresh and if you like it spicy, you won’t be disappointed. China Cafe has been in business the longest and is located in the Marketplace on the southwest corner of Sheridan and W. 20th (across from Target). They are a traditional Chinese restaurant with excellent food.

Mexican food is another well represented food category in Edgewater. The Tamale Kitchen in the 1700 block of Sheridan has well prepared food that can be eaten in but also provides take out. La Cascada has been around the longest and has a strong local following. The new kid on the block is Sopapilla’s, located in the Marketplace right on Sheridan in the 1600 block. They have an outdoor deck facing Sloan’s Lake and has the largest dining room of the three.

Edgewater also has its own local coffee shop, the Edgewater Coffee Company along W. 25th near Sheridan. The owner Gina Hartley, leaves no stone unturned in providing a true community gathering place with the best coffee in the region, pastries, locally made burritos, and more. Music acts are typically provided Friday evenings and once a month open mic nights are also provided. Yes, there is a Starbucks, we can’t leave them out!

Bar and Grills are another popular dining category! The newest, Providence Inn along main street W. 25th one block west of Sheridan, has a cozy bar with a few tables and outdoor patio in back. Several beers are on tap and the food shouldn’t be missed. Further up W. 25th several blocks at the corner of Gray, is Sloan’s Bar and Grill. Several TV’s broadcast the current game and again, several great brews are on tap. The should is also above average and there is a pool table in back. The Cooler is the newest edition to this category, located on the southwest corner of W. 20th and Sheridan. Sports are on tap with several brews as well. A nice seating area is situated on the sunny south side of the restaurant and views to the west across Sloan’s Lake also commands attention.

Two “one of a kind” restaurants includes the venerable Edgewater Inn one block along W. 25th Ave west of Sheridan and GB Fish and Chips, at W. 18th and Sheridan. Edgewater Inn is the grandfather of Edgewater’s restaurants, whose Pizzas can’t be missed and plenty of Italian dishes are also on the menu. Be sure to get an ice cold schooner of beer with your pizza! GB is is British style fish and chips with sport (soccer typically playing) and beer. There are several fried fish choices and there is a great sunny patio for outdoor eating and drinking.

You’ll also find a variety of fast food outlets in Edgewater along Sheridan, including McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Jersey Mike’s (sandwiches), Ceaser’s Pizza, and Sonic. One new fast food addition with indoor seating is Walk in Burgers near W. 24th. This is not your grandmother’s burger! I guess it depends on your grandmother but these burgers (beef and buffalo) are thick and juicy; the fries are above average as well.

Happy Eating!
