Three Events in Edgewater – Same Weekend!

July 18th, 2010

Three events, side-by-side, occur this weekend with the time honored Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan’s Lake, the first annual Edgewater Children’s Festival directly across Sheridan along W. 25th Avenue in the City of Edgewater and a VW car show at the Cooler, at the corner of W. 20th and Sheridan.

The new Children’s Festival is the production of Edgewater Enterprise, who is sponsoring and managing the event. There will be plenty of fun activity including: a kid’s carnival; horse rides; play areas including a tiny town and book center; stage with live acts, demonstrations and live music; educational exhibits; and vendors selling children’s goods, arts and crafts, food and drink.

The Festival begins in the large public lot on the corner of Sheridan and W. 25th with a kid’s carnival and continues west six blocks. West 25th remains open for three blocks west of Sheridan where easy access is still available for local restaurants and business. The street is then closed for the festival at Chase for three additional blocks. Within this three block stretch is additional carnival rides, vendors and booths, tiny town, the music and drama stage and more. The festival is open each day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The VW car show only occurs Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00. Expect a wide variety of older bugs and buses as well as “souped-up” cars – old and new. It should be a lot of fun.

Of course who doesn’t already know of the boat races at the Dragon Boat Festival! Occurring both days of the weekend the festival draws near 50,000 each day to view (and participate if you’re on a team) boat races, and see, visit and taste asian culture.

Don’t miss-out on this unique opportunity to experience all the excitement and accompanying family and children activity all in one package in Edgewater and Sloan’s Lake this weekend!
